What is the Vietnam Placements Programme?

The Vietnam Placements Programme is a bespoke professional and cultural experience for ambitious young adults. Each programme combines a tailored professional placement with cultural exploration, networking, mentorship, and comprehensive on-the-ground support.

The programme is designed to give participants meaningful exposure to professional life while developing independence, confidence, and a deeper understanding of Vietnam and, more broadly, Asia.

Who is the programme for?

The programme is designed for students and young adults aged 16–24, whether they are considering a summer experience, gap year, university break or exploring potential career pathways.

You do not need to have a fixed career direction. Some participants arrive with a clear professional ambition, while others use the experience to discover what interests them.

Every placement is individually developed around your interests, experience, and longer-term ambitions.

Do I need previous experience?

No. Placements are designed to be educational and appropriately challenging for each participant. We work with our placement partners to ensure that students are given meaningful opportunities to learn, contribute, and gain genuine insight into their chosen field.

Do I need to speak Vietnamese?

No. Placements are conducted in English and there is no requirement to speak Vietnamese.

For those interested in learning the language, we can also arrange private Vietnamese lessons with experienced local teachers.

How long can I stay?

Programmes are typically two to four weeks, although longer placements can be arranged for students seeking a more extended experience.

Start dates are flexible and programmes can be arranged throughout our operating season, subject to placement availability.

What does a typical programme look like?

There is no standard itinerary. Each programme is designed around the participant.

Your time will generally combine your professional placement with cultural experiences, networking, mentorship, and time to explore Vietnam independently. Weekends and free time can be tailored according to your interests and level of independence.

The result is an experience that feels structured and purposeful without being overly prescribed.

Where will I stay?

Participants stay in carefully selected, high-quality serviced apartments in a safe and well-connected neighbourhood of Hanoi.

Each participant has private accommodation, with access to the facilities and support of a professionally managed residence, including 24-hour security and controlled access.

What support is provided?

You will be supported from the moment you arrive.

This includes airport transfers, a personal escort to your placement on your first day, regular one-to-one check-ins, and 24/7 on-the-ground support throughout your stay.

We also provide comprehensive pre-departure guidance and cultural orientation, while our team remains available should you need assistance at any point.

How do you select placement partners?

We work with a carefully developed network of trusted organisations across Vietnam.

Placement partners are selected based on their suitability for student development, professional environment, and ability to provide a meaningful experience. Each host is briefed before a participant begins their placement.

Can I travel independently?

Yes. We encourage participants to experience Vietnam beyond their placement, with the level of independence tailored to their age, experience, and circumstances.

Our team can advise on travel plans and help arrange suitable excursions or additional experiences where appropriate.

Participants under 18 are subject to additional considerations relating to age, safeguarding, and travel arrangements.

Is travel insurance included?

Yes. Participants have access to comprehensive travel insurance through The True Traveller as part of the programme.

What is included in the programme fee?

The programme fee typically includes:

• Bespoke placement design and coordination

• Professional placement

• Serviced accommodation

• Daily breakfast

• Airport transfers

• Pre-departure preparation and cultural orientation

• On-the-ground support throughout the programme

• Networking and professional mentorship

• Selected cultural experiences and excursions

• Travel insurance

• Internal travel where required

International flights to and from Vietnam are not included.

How much does the programme cost?

Every Vietnam Placement is individually tailored, with pricing determined by the duration, placement, accommodation, and experiences selected.

As a guide:

2 Weeks: £2,995
3 Weeks: £3,995
4 Weeks: £4,995

Longer programmes are available by arrangement.

These fees include placement design and coordination, serviced accommodation and daily breakfast, in-country support (see #8 above), orientation, networking and mentorship, any internal flights, travel insurance, and some meals and excursions.

International flights are charged separately.

How should I enrol?

You can enrol by:

We’ll then arrange a short conversation to understand your interests and start designing a tailored placement for you.

How far in advance should I enrol?

We recommend enrolling 3–6 months in advance, especially for summer programmes, as places are limited and customised placements take time to coordinate.

That said, we understand plans can change — and we’ve successfully arranged placements at short notice, including trips organised within a few days. If you're unsure, just get in touch.

Can schools or advisors partner with Crawford & Corry?

Absolutely. We work closely with schools, universities, and educational advisors to deliver presentations, support students throughout the university admissions process, and uphold the highest standards of guidance and care.

We have presented at and partnered with some of the UK's leading independent schools, while our students have come from schools including St Paul's, Highgate, and Downe House.

Can I get a reference or certificate for my experience?

Yes. All students receive a Crawford & Corry Certificate of Completion upon request, and we’re happy to provide references or written evaluations to support future applications.

In addition, the companies and organisations where you complete your placements may provide their own references, and you can discuss your experiences in your:

• CV

• UCAS applications

• Cover letters or interviews

You do not need to mention Crawford & Corry in these applications — simply name the companies or organisations where you undertook your placements.
