My favourite part with Crawford and Corry was definitely getting the opportunity to meet a huge array of experts in different fields to help build an idea of my future as well as help me decide between subjects and universities to apply to. I also really enjoyed my time at fashion photo shoots, getting the opportunity to see all the work put into a collection come together was very special, especially having worked on some of the pieces myself was amazing.
My trip had a huge impact on me, before coming I was completely torn on what subject I wanted to take at university, but after working in both chemistry and fashion, I have to come to a very firm decision of fashion. “I decided to take part in the Immersive Professional Experiences in Vietnam because I had very little work experience and wanted to strengthen my CV before starting my university applications. I also love travelling, so the opportunity to experience Southeast Asia whilst gaining professional experience really appealed to me.
I had an amazing two weeks in Hanoi, and although I really enjoyed my work placements, one of my favourite parts of the programme was everything organised outside of them. From exploring Ha Long Bay to getting clothes tailored, Crawford & Corry makes sure there is always something to look forward to, and you can make the itinerary as full as you want it to be with activities completely tailored to your preferences!
The programme was incredibly valuable in helping me confirm what I want to study at university and, beyond that, what kind of working environment suits me. Having placements in two very different environments gave me the opportunity to experience different sides of working life and helped me think more clearly about my future. I also developed valuable networking skills. With so many opportunities to meet and speak to new people, I became much more confident approaching people I had never met before and who had very different life experiences to me.
Beyond the professional experiences, spending two weeks away from home gave me a huge sense of independence whilst still having a very strong support network around me! Living and working in Vietnam also gave me the chance to experience a completely different culture and broaden my perspective in ways that I don’t think I could have achieved anywhere else!
If you’re thinking about taking part in the programme, my biggest piece of advice would be don’t afraid to take the opportunity. Even if you’re nervous about going somewhere new or meeting lots of new people, you quickly settle in, and you will come away with experiences and memories that you’ll carry with you forever!”

“Crawford and Corry provided me with an incredibly valuable work experience placement in Hanoi, whilst fully supporting me from the moment I arrived in Vietnam to the moment I left.
During my time in the city, I worked on real projects alongside finance professionals, giving me genuine insight into how financial decisions are made in practice. My favourite part of the programme was being trusted to develop and add to the projects too by my colleagues. I also found the networking opportunities particularly rewarding, as meeting experienced professionals and learning about their career journeys greatly improved my understanding of the finance industry. The experience helped significantly strengthen my interest in finance and economics, while also helping me develop essential skills such as professional communication, and, more broadly speaking, my maturity and independence.
In addition, I undertook the Global Banking and Markets Masterclass prior to the work experience. I found this very beneficial because it helped me not only with parts of my Economics A Level course at school, but also bridged the gap between economics and a career in finance. I found the sessions on financial crises very interesting to learn about for the first time, as well as the sessions on networking and CV work extremely useful.
