STEM: Airplane Crisis Simulation
Interdisciplinary. High-stakes. Fully immersive.
Mid-flight between Hong Kong and London Heathrow, an Airbus A350-900 encounters a cascading series of emergencies - from extreme meteorological disruptions to critical technical failures.
Students are immersed in a fast-paced environment, working as part of a high-level advisory team responsible for bringing the aircraft safely to ground.
True crisis management happens at the intersection of disciplines. Led by instructors from world-leading institutions, students rotate across specialisms, mirroring the structure of real-world response teams in global industry:
Medicine & Science: Manage onboard triage, physiology and medical ethics, and complex health-profile advisory
Engineering & Physics: Apply aeronautical physics and determine structural operating limits to maintain stability
Computer Science & AI: Use machine learning operations (MLOps) and decision logic to navigate aircraft rerouting
Design, Marketing, & PR: Develop interior design whilst maintaining global brand reputation and passenger experience
Business: execute a major equity capital markets deal and crisis liability strategies (only available in-school)
